The Mike Flowers Pops

The Mike Flowers Pops, a British easy listening band fronted by founder Michael Roberts, known professionally as Mike Flowers, was formed in 1993. The group is known for its lounge music covers of both classic and contemporary pop songs. Their breakthrough came in 1995 with an easy listening cover of Oasis' "Wonderwall", which reached Number two on the UK Christmas chart that year and topped the Scottish charts. This version was released while the original by Oasis was still in the UK Singles Chart, peaking at Number ten. The success of "Wonderwall" propelled The Mike Flowers Pops from nightclubs to larger venues across Britain and Europe. Their debut album A Groovy Place was released in June 1996. The band also achieved chart success with cover versions of "Light My Fire" by The Doors and "Don't Cry for Me Argentina".
