The Louvin Brothers, composed of Ira and Charlie Louvin (né Loudermilk), were an American musical duo born on April 21, 1924, and July 7, 1927. The brothers began their career in gospel music during the 1940s. Their first secular hit was "The Get Acquainted Waltz", recorded with Chet Atkins. In 1955, they joined the Grand Ole Opry and released several albums including Tragic Songs Of Life (1956) and Satan Is Real (1959), which featured their notable song "Satan Is Real". The duo achieved significant chart success with hits like "Cash on the Barrelhead" and "When I Stop Dreaming". Despite their musical achievements, the brothers disbanded in 1963 due to personal conflicts. Ira Louvin died in a traffic accident on June 20, 1965, while Charlie Louvin passed away from cancer on January 26, 2011. Posthumously, The Louvin Brothers were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2001.
