The Ladybug Transistor is an American indie pop group from Brooklyn, New York, that formed in 1995. The ensemble was founded by Gary Olson, Edward Powers, and Javier Villegas and is associated with the Elephant Six Collective. They released their debut studio album, Marlborough Farms, (1995) followed by Beverley Atonale (1997) through the label Merge Records. After touring and adding the bassist Julia Rydholm, they released the album The Albemarle Sound (1999). Their subsequent recordings include Argyle Heir (2001) and the eponymous album The Ladybug Transistor (2003). Following the death of drummer San Fadyl in 2007, the band released the album Can't Wait Another Day (2007). Their seventh studio album, Clutching Stems, was released (2011).
