The Klezmatics, an American klezmer music group, formed in 1986 in New York. The band's members include musicians from diverse musical backgrounds. Their first album, Shvaygn=Toyt, was released in 1989 following their debut performance at the Berlin world music festival Heimatklänge. The Klezmatics' music often incorporated traditional Jewish themes and languages, including Yiddish and Aramaic, with a modern twist. They gained significant recognition for their album Wonder Wheel (2006), which featured lyrics by Woody Guthrie and won a Grammy Award in 2007 for Best Contemporary World Music Album.
