The Hollyridge Strings, an American studio orchestra formed in 1964, specialized in easyâlistening arrangements of contemporary pop hits and recorded for Capitol Records. Their debut release, The Beach Boys Songbook (1964), featured orchestral covers of popular tracks and established the groupâs signature style, followed by The Beach Boys Songbook Vol. 2 (1965) and Christmas Favorites (1965). In the week of Julyâ¯4,â¯1964, their rendition of "All My Loving" by The Beatles entered the Billboard Hotâ¯100 at Number 93, marking the groupâs brief chart appearance. Producers Stu Phillips, Mort Garson, and Perry Botkin, Jr. guided the ensembleâs arrangements, while the orchestra interpreted songs by The Four Seasons, Elvis Presley, Simon & Garfunkel, and Nat "King" Cole. The group ceased activity in the early 1970s, concluding a decadeâlong contribution to the classical crossover genre.
