The Headboys

Scottish power pop band, The Headboys, formed in Edinburgh in 1977 under the original name Badger. The group initially gained traction with their single "Kickin' The Kans" and "Stepping Stones", which helped establish their presence in the local music scene. Their breakthrough moment came with the release of "The Shape Of Things To Come" in September 1979, which entered the UK Singles Chart on September 22nd and spent eight weeks on the chart, peaking at number 45. This success secured them an appearance on Top of the Pops on October 11th, marking the debut show for host Andy Peebles. The Headboys released their self-titled debut album in 1979 on Robert Stigwood's RSO label, produced by Peter Ker. Despite this initial success, the band did not achieve any further UK chart hits and were subsequently labeled as one-hit wonders. In 2013, ten tracks recorded for a follow-up album but never released were issued on CD under the title The Lost Album by Pop Detective Records. The album was dedicated to the memory of drummer Davy Ross, who passed away in November 2010.
