The Greencards, an American progressive bluegrass band, was formed in 2003 in Austin, Texas by Englishman Eamon McLoughlin on fiddle, and Australians Kym Warner on mandolin and Carol Young on bass. The group was known for incorporating various musical genres into their bluegrass sound and were part of the "newgrass" movement. They initially performed in local bars in Austin and released their debut album Movin' On in 2003, which won local Texas awards and charted on Americana radio stations. Subsequent albums include Weather and Water (2005), which was named one of the ten best bluegrass albums of 2005 by Country Music Television, and Viridian (2007), which reached Number 1 on Billboard's Bluegrass Music Chart.
