The Duke Spirit, an English rock band, was formed in London in 2003. The group consisted of Liela Moss on vocals, Luke B. Ford and Dan Higgins on guitar, and Toby Butler on bass. After meeting at art college in Cheltenham, Ford and Moss moved to London and began performing as Solomon before forming The Duke Spirit. Their debut EP Roll, Spirit, Roll was released in 2003, garnering critical acclaim from publications such as NME. The band's first full-length album, Cuts Across the Land, was produced by Simon Raymonde and Flood and released in May 2005. Following tours across the UK and a performance at Coachella 2006, they signed to You Are Here label in early 2007. Their second album, Neptune, was recorded with Chris Goss and released in February 2008. After a lineup change, The Duke Spirit released their third album, Bruiser, in September 2011, which included the EP Kusama. They followed this with live LP Dresden Live in April 2012. The band entered a hiatus from 2012 to 2014, during which Moss and Butler released music as Roman Remains. In May 2016, they released their fourth album, Kin, featuring guest vocals from Mark Lanegan and Sam Windett. Their fifth album, Sky Is Mine, was produced by the band themselves in Somerset and released in 2017.
