The Doobie Brothers

Known for their soft rock hits of the 1970s, The Doobie Brothers were formed by singer-guitarist tandem Patrick Simmons / Tom Johnston in San Jose, California, in 1970. An archetypal country-rock band at the time, The Doobie Brothers became the paragon of white funk and one of the most famous Californian bands in rock history, following the integration of singer Michael McDonald in the mid-1970s. In conjunction with numerous hit singles, including "Listen to the Music" in 1972, "Long Train Runnin'" in 1973 and "What a Fool Believes " in 1979, the band went on to collect gold and platinum discs, selling over 25 million albums in the course of their career. After a dozen original albums through the early 1990s, the band released Sibling Rivalry in 2000 and spent the rest of the decade on stage, until returning to the studio for World Gone Crazy (2010), followed by Southbound (2014) and Liberté (2021). In 2025, the seventeenth original album Walk This Road features guest appearances by Mavis Staples, Mick Fleetwood, Jake Shimabukuro and Henry Kapono.
