The Dip

The Dip is an American rhythm and blues and funk ensemble from Seattle, Washington established in 2013. The group was formed by University of Washington music students Tom Eddy, Jarred Katz, and Mark Hunter, who were joined by jazz students Brennan Carter, Levi Gillis, and Evan Smith. Their recording career began with the debut studio recording The Dip (2015) followed by the instrumental extended play Won't Be Coming Back (2016). The ensemble released the studio recording The Dip Delivers (2019) followed by the instrumental extended play The Dip Plays It Cool (2020). In 2021, the group signed with the label Dualtone Records and released the studio recording Sticking With It (2022), which reached number 31 on the US Top Album Sales chart. They performed international tours in Europe and Japan in 2019 and toured North America in 2022, performing as a support act for the ensemble Lake Street Dive. The ensemble performed at the Bonnaroo Music Festival in 2022 and scheduled an appearance at the Bumbershoot festival in 2023. Their discography included the studio recording Love Direction (2024).
