The Derailers, an American country music band, were founded in 1994 by Tony Villanueva and Brian Hofeldt. Their debut LP, Live Tracks, was released in 1995 on Austin-based independent label Freedom Records, marking a significant breakthrough at the South by Southwest music festival that year. The Derailers quickly gained traction within the Americana movement, known for their traditional honky-tonk sound. They signed with Watermelon Records for their second release, Jackpot (1996), and moved to Sire Records for Reverb Deluxe (1997). Their first major-label release, Full Western Dress (1999) on Curb Records, reached number 69 on the Billboard Country chart, with the single "The Right Place" peaking at number 71. After founding member Tony Villanueva left in 2003, Brian Hofeldt took over as primary front man. The band continued with independent releases such as Soldiers of Love (2007) and Under the Influence of Buck (2007), a tribute to Buck Owens.
