The Cross

The Cross, a South Korean rock duo formed in 1999 by Siha Lee and Hyukgun Kim, became known for their K-ballad rock. Their debut album Melody Quus (2003) garnered critical acclaim but struggled commercially due to the rise of P2P file-sharing, despite tracks like "For You" and "Blue Stocker" showcasing their unique style. The band won the Mnet Music Festival Rock category Grand Prize with "Fly to You" in 2001. Their follow-up, Rush (2005), featured more polished compositions, including the hit "Fly 2 You," but did not significantly boost their commercial success. The band's third album, The Cross 3rd Album (2007), continued their exploration of emotive rock ballads, with tracks like "Love Song" and "Tear Story." Over the years, the group saw lineup changes, with Lee and Hyukgun Kim briefly reuniting, followed by Lee's solo career. Despite their shifting lineup and periodic hiatuses, The Cross remained a respected figure in the rock scene, with later albums like Awl (2020) and Don't Cry (2023) marking their enduring presence.
