The Callous Daoboys are an American metalcore/mathcore band from Atlanta, Georgia, known for their chaotic, genre-defying sound that blends elements of mathcore, metalcore, nu-metal, post-hardcore, and experimental rock. Formed in 2016, the band has built a reputation for their frenetic energy, theatrical live performances, and a willingness to push musical boundaries. The band's inception was marked by a desire to break free from the constraints of their previous musical endeavours. Initially starting as a guitar-driven project, they quickly realised the need for a vocalist. Vocalist Carson "Big Animal" Pace, who had been playing guitar, took on the role of lead singer, and the lineup solidified with Maddie “El Perro” Caffrey (guitar), Amber “The Mind” Christman (violin, synthesiser), and Sam Williamson (drums). Their early work, including the EPs My Dixie Wrecked and Animal Tetris, showcased their raw energy and set the stage for their future sound. In 2019, The Callous Daoboys released their debut studio album, Die on Mars, under Dark Trail Records. The album received critical acclaim for its innovative approach to mathcore, drawing comparisons to bands like The Dillinger Escape Plan and Botch. It was noted for its immersive experience and unconventional songwriting, marking a significant step in the band's evolution. The band's sophomore album, Celebrity Therapist, released in 2022, further solidified their place in the heavy music scene. The album was praised for its chaotic yet cohesive sound, blending elements of nu-metal and experimental rock. Tracks like “Waco Jesus” highlighted their ability to merge crushing heaviness with melodic hooks, showcasing their versatility and willingness to experiment with different musical styles. The EP God Smiles Upon The Callous Daoboys, released in 2023, continued this trend, featuring the single “Waco Jesus." In 2025, The Callous Daoboys released their third studio album, I Don't Want to See You in Heaven, under MNRK Heavy. The album received widespread acclaim, cementing the band's status as innovators in the heavy music scene.
