The Budos Band is an American instrumental band founded in 2005 in Staten Island, New York. Released by Daptone Records. Born of informal sessions at the House of Soul studio, run by Gabriel Roth (aka Bosco Mann), it brings together musicians linked to the New York soul/funk scene, notably via Antibalas and Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings. The core group includes Jared Tankel (baritone sax), Thomas Brenneck (guitar), Andrew Greene (trumpet), Daniel Foder (bass) and Brian Profilio (drums). Their music combines vintage funk, Afrobeat, cinematic soul, psychedelic rock and Ethiopian influences, in a powerful, evocative instrumental style. Their debut album, The Budos Band (2005), is followed by The Budos Band II (2007), III (2010), Burnt Offering (2014), V (2019), Long in the Tooth (2020) and the EP Frontier's Edge (2023). Renowned for their intense stage performances, The Budos Band continue in 2025 with a seventh numbered album, VII.
