The Blood is a London-based UK punk band formed in 1982 by Cardinal Jesus Hate and JJ Bedsore. The group initially performed under the name "Coming Blood" before releasing their first single "Megalomania" in April 1983, which satirised the Pope. The band's music blended hardcore punk, Oi!, heavy metal, football chants, and shock rock, often addressing religious criticism or political topics. The Blood's second single "Stark Raving Normal" was released in 1983, criticizing one-dimensional patriotism. Notable releases include Se Parare Nex (1985), Smell Yourself (1996), and Spillage (1999). . JJ Bedsore died in 2004 due to chronic alcoholism. The band reformed in 2006 and continued releasing music, including the acoustic album punk@theopera (2008) and the self-penned album @thebodysnatchersball (2010).
