The Benjamin Gate was a South African Christian rock band formed in 1998, named after one of the entrances into the original city of Jerusalem as a tribute to musician Ben Herbert. The group released two independent albums, Spinning Head EP and comeputyourheadupinmyheart, before moving to the United States in 2001. Their first major-label album for ForeFront Records was ["Untitled"], which included retooled songs from their previous release. This album produced two Number 1 singles and one Number 2 single, and they were nominated for four Dove Awards. The band toured extensively across the United States and Europe, and their merchandise featured a distinctive gasmask logo. They also had an endorsement contract with Oakley, Inc. The Benjamin Gate disbanded in 2003 following lead singer Adrienne Liesching's engagement to Christian artist Jeremy Camp.
