The Bassface Swing Trio

The Bassface Swing Trio, a German jazz ensemble, was formed in 2003 by bassist Jean-Philippe Wadle. The trio's lineup includes pianist Thilo Wagner and drummer Florian Hermann. Wadle met Wagner during a concert where they first performed together; Wagner is known for his work with Emil Mangelsdorff and the Thilo Berg Bigband. Hermann, who had played at notable jazz festivals including Montreux and Honolulu, joined as the third member. The Bassface Swing Trio released their debut album Straight Live in 2005 on Rodenstein Records. Subsequent releases included Bassface Swing Trio plays Gershwin (2007) and A Tribute to Cole Porter (2008), both on Stockfisch Records. Their fourth album, Bossa, Ballads and Blues, with Bruno Müller, was released in 2022. The trio is recognized for their traditional swing style, performing at various jazz festivals and collaborating with prominent musicians such as Mike Smith and James Moody.
