The Band of the Coldstream Guards, a military music group based in England, was officially formed on May 16, 1785. The band received its first British bandmaster, Charles Godfrey, in 1835. Notable performances include kicking off the Live Aid concert at Wembley Stadium in 1985 and performing "The Star-Spangled Banner" at Buckingham Palace following the September 11 attacks in 2001. In June 2009, they signed a record deal with Universal Music imprint Decca, releasing their debut album Heroes on November 30, 2009, which was nominated for Best Album of the Year at the Classical Brits Awards. The band has also performed at significant events such as Beating Retreat and Trooping the Colour.
