Terry McDermott

Terry McDermott, born 6 August 1977 in Aberdeen, Scotland, is a singer who began his career in the Aberdeen‑based duo Driveblind, formed with guitarist Nick Tyler. The pair expanded into a full band and released the self‑titled album Driveblind on 24 October 2006 through Geffen Records after signing with A&M and later Geffen. The group toured the United States, supporting acts such as the Foo Fighters and Candlebox, and issued the EP The Future You Were Promised in 2008. In 2009 Terry McDermott relocated to New Orleans and formed Lotus Crush with former Candlebox members; the band debuted with Half Light Morning in March 2011, which appeared at SXSW, and followed with Rabbit Hole in March 2015, recorded at Robert Lang Studios. Terry McDermott gained international visibility as the runner‑up of Season 3 of the American version of The Voice in 2012, where his performances of "Baba O'Riley" and "Carry On Wayward Son" attracted widespread attention; his single "Pictures" peaked at number one on the iTunes rock charts. He has performed the national anthem for the New Orleans Pelicans and Saints, appeared on The Voice Vietnam, and toured with his band Terry McDermott and The Bonfires, releasing the EP Palmetto Heights on Fat Hippy Records in 2013.
