Tedeschi Trucks Band

Tedeschi Trucks Band, formed in 2010 in Jacksonville, Florida, is an American blues-rock, soul, blues and jam band led by singer/guitarist Susan Tedeschi and guitarist Derek Trucks, an on-stage and off-stage couple. Their artistic encounter is the culmination of already well-established careers: Susan Tedeschi (b. 1970) had established herself as a major voice of contemporary blues, noted for her solo albums in the 1990s and 2000s, while Derek Trucks (b. 1979) was a slide guitar prodigy, a member of the famous blues group The Allman Brothers Band from 1999 and leader of his own Derek Trucks Band. After several tours in which each appeared as a guest in the other's band, they decided in 2010 to merge their respective formations to create a large collective, the Tedeschi Trucks Band. From the outset, the band has stood out for its unusual format in the world of contemporary rock: a dozen musicians on stage, including two drummers, a horn section, backing singers and keyboards, in a tradition close to the great soul and rhythm and blues ensembles of the 1960s and 1970s. Their debut album, Revelator (2011), was enthusiastically received by critics and won the Grammy Award for "Best Blues Album" in 2012, confirming the legitimacy of this new band. This is followed by a live album, Everybody's Talkin' (2012), which captures the power and breadth of the live shows, and then Made Up Mind (2013), which consolidates their sonic identity by blending blues, soul and instrumental improvisations. Over the years, the Tedeschi Trucks Band has toured extensively around the world, forging a reputation as a must-see live band, capable of stretching their songs into long, improvised explorations inherited from the jam band spirit. The album Let Me Get By (2016) marks a return to collective writing and in-house production, affirming the band's artistic autonomy. 2017 saw the release of Live from the Fox Oakland, a new live recording that illustrates the band's raw energy and cohesion. Several changes occur before the release of the 2019 album Signs, including the deaths of bassist Tim Lefebvre and keyboardist/vocalist Kofi Burbridge. Despite these losses, the band carries on and, after tribute concerts to Derek & the Dominos' Layla and Joe Cocker's Mad Dogs & Englishmen (released in 2021 and 2025 respectively), embarks on the I Am the Moon series, comprising four volumes released in 2022.
