Ted Herold

Ted Herold was born in Berlin on September 9, 1942. He is a German singer and actor who is considered one of the defining figures of the early German rock 'n' roll phase. He is nicknamed the "German Elvis". From the 1950s, Ted Herold began his first musical appearances in the context of the emerging rock 'n' roll movement in Germany. In 1959, he released his first records and oriented himself towards the American rock 'n' roll sound. With his German-language interpretation of rock 'n' roll, Ted Herold shapes a young pop culture in the Federal Republic of Germany. He appears on numerous radio and television programs and reaches a wide audience. His repertoire includes rock 'n' roll, hits and pop. Famous titles include "Moonlight" (1959), "Hula Rock" (1960) and "Wir wollen niemals auseinander gehn" (1961). Further singles and compilations followed in the 1960s and 1970s. He shapes the transfer of American rock 'n' roll music to the German-speaking world. He died on November 20, 2021 in Dortmund.
