Taylor Hicks

Taylor Reuben Hicks, born on October 7, 1976 in Birmingham, Alabama, is an American singer. He began his musical journey at a young age, teaching himself to play harmonica and guitar, and released two independent albums before gaining national recognition. In 2005, Taylor Hicks auditioned for American Idol and won the fifth season on May 24, 2006, becoming the oldest contestant to win the competition at age 29. Following his victory, he signed with Arista Records and released his self-titled debut album on December 12, 2006, which included the hit single "Do I Make You Proud". Hicks performed on Broadway in Grease as Teen Angel in 2008 and embarked on a national tour in 2009. He secured a long-term residency at Bally's Las Vegas in June 2012, moving to Paris Las Vegas in January 2013. In addition to his music career, Hicks hosted the INSP original series State Plate starting in 2016 and released the single "Six Strings and Diamond Rings" in 2017.
