Formed in 2003 by songwriter and producer Martin Strathausen, the multinational German music project Tape Five produced music across various genres. They released the debut album Avenue du Gare (2003). Their early work spanned genres like lounge, nu jazz, swing, and Latin music. Subsequent albums such as Tonight Josephine! (2010) and Swing Patrol (2012) shifted towards electro-swing. Tape Five collaborated with international musicians from various countries. Notable appearances include performances at the Utcazene Festival in Hungary (2011) and the Kaliningrad City Jazz Festival in Russia (2012). Their music featured on Rai Uno in Italy (2011) with the song "Bad Boy Goodman" and in the Brazilian TV series Viver a Vida with the song "Senorita Bonita" (2010). The album The Roaring 2020s (2019) explored retro-modern sounds.
