Supercell (stylised as supercell), are a Japanese pop-rock group who formed in 2007 and initially gained traction through the use of the Hatsune Miku Vocaloid singing synthesizer for their songs on the Nico Nico Douga video sharing site. The group were steered by musician and songwriter Ryo, with other members contributing illustrations for album booklets and music videos. Their breakthrough came with the release of "Melt" in December 2007. Supercell's independent self-titled album, released at Comiket 74 in August 2008, featured their popular songs along with previously unreleased tracks. In March 2009, Supercell signed with Sony Music Entertainment Japan and re-released their self-titled album professionally, which included additional songs and a DVD of music videos. The album peaked at number four on Oricon's weekly albums chart and was awarded a gold disc by the Recording Industry Association of Japan. Supercell transitioned to vocalist Nagi Yanagi with their debut single "Kimi no Shiranai Monogatari" in August 2009, which ranked at number five on Oricon's weekly singles chart and was used as the ending theme for the anime series Bakemonogatari. Following Nagi Yanagi's departure, Koeda became the new vocalist with her first single, "My Dearest", in November 2011. Supercell released their third LP, Zigaexperientia, in November 2013, marking Koeda's last contribution. In September 2019, Ann and Gaku were chosen as the new vocalists for Supercell, and they released "#Love feat. Ann, Gaku".
