Sunday Service Choir

Sunday Service Choir is a contemporary gospel choir founded in 2019 by Kanye West and directed by Jason White. It was born in Los Angeles when the rapper was in the midst of a religious conversion, and began working every Sunday with the artist in preparation for the recording of the album Jesus Is Born. Even before its release at the end of the year, they appear together at the Coachella festival on April 21, 2019, then at other public events. In October, the album Jesus Is King, credited to Kanye West, is released, with the choir participating on four tracks. Rated No. 1 in several countries, including the United States, it was followed on Christmas Day 2019 by Jesus Is Born, which reached No. 2 on the gospel charts and No. 73 on the Billboard 200. 2020 saw the release of the Emmanuel EP, featuring Latin lyrics, and in 2022 the choir reappeared on the live video Donda Live Experience, in between collaborations with Davido and Quadeca. Released in 2023, the My Lord Is Here EP was followed a year later by another, God Is the Lord. Since then, the choir has sung on productions by Will Smith and rapper T.I., before the 2024 release of the single "Go Tell It", linked to the EP of the same name.
