Street Academics

Street Academics is an alternative hip-hop group from Kerala, India The collective initially started as a small group for spoken word poetry by Rjv Ernesto and later expanded to include Haris Saleem, Amjad Nadeem, Abhimanyu Raman, and Pranav in 2009. Their early work included collaborations with keyboardist Ruthin Thej and DJ/producer Vivek Radhakrishnan. Street Academics released their debut EP Aathmasphere in 2013, followed by Chatha Kaakka in 2016 and Loop in 2019. Notable songs include "Vandi Puncture" (2012) and "Native Bapa" (2012), which helped bring Malayalam hip-hop to mainstream attention. The group has been recognized for pioneering Malayalam rap with serious content and multisyllabic rhyme patterns, influencing the vernacular rap scene in India.
