Stefan Raab

Stefan Konrad Raab, or Stefan Raab for short, was born in Cologne on October 20, 1966. He was already playing drums and other instruments at school. After graduating from Aloisius College in Bonn-Bad Godesberg in 1986, he did his basic military service with the air force in Cologne-Wahn. While studying law, he completed an apprenticeship as a butcher in his parents' business, which he completed with distinction in 1990. His media career began in 1990 with the production of advertising jingles. In 1993, he hosted the program Vivasion on the music channel VIVA. In 1999, he moved to ProSieben and developed the late-night show TV total with his production company Raab TV, which he hosted until 2015. He also produced formats such as Schlag den Raab, TV total Turmspringen and the Bundesvision Song Contest. Musically, Stefan Raab became known for his humorous songs. In 1994, he released "Böörti Böörti Vogts", which reached number 4 in the German charts. This is followed in 1996 by "Hier kommt die Maus", which climbs to number 2. In 1999, he landed a number 1 hit with "Maschen-Draht-Zaun", which sold around one million copies. In 2000, he took part in the Eurovision Song Contest with "Wadde hadde dudde da?" and reached 5th place. In 2004, he produced the song "Space Taxi" for the film (T)Raumschiff Surprise - Periode 1. In 2010, he led Lena Meyer-Landrut to victory in the Eurovision Song Contest with "Satellite". His discography includes the studio albums Get Ready (1993), Schlimmer Finger (1997) and TV Total - Das Album (2000), which reached number 2 in the German charts. The compilation His Greatest Hits - 25 Years is released in 2024. Stefan Raab receives several awards: He receives the Echo as national producer (1997, 2000, 2005, 2011), the German Television Award for TV total (1999) and Unser Star für Oslo (2010), the Adolf Grimme Award for the casting show SSDSGPS (2005) and the Golden Camera as best TV entertainer (2004). After retiring from the TV stage in 2015, Stefan Raab remains active as a producer. In 2024, he returns to television with the RTL show Du gewinnst hier nicht die Million bei Stefan Raab.
