STAR☆ANIS

STAR☆ANIS is an idol unit born out of the Akihabara DearStage in Chiyoda, Tokyo, and they also represent a fictional idol group in the anime "Aikatsu!" This unit was formed after auditions held by the anime's supervisor, Seiji Mizushima, who chose members based on their demo tapes and live performances at DearStage. The group's inception in 2012 was marked by the release of their single "Signalize!/Calendar Girl," marking their major debut. The unit's name, inspired by the star anise spice which has eight points, reflects the eight-member structure in the anime, featuring characters like Ichigo Hoshimiya and Aoi Kiriya. Initially, STAR☆ANIS began as a quartet consisting of Waka, Fūri, Sunao, and Risuko, with other members joining in correspondence with new characters introduced in the show. Over time, the lineup has evolved with graduations and new additions, mirroring the dynamic changes within the anime narrative. By 2016, the group performed as a seven-member unit following the graduation of Mona from the group and the "Aikatsu! Music Festa" event held at TOKYO DOME CITY HALL. The official members are Waka, Fuuri, Yuna, Remi, Eri, Risuko and Ruka.They released "Smart Phone App "Aikatsu! Photo on Stage!!" Split Single Photokatsu! - EP02" on November 23, 2016 and announced a temporary graduation from "Aikatsu!" songs in February 2018.
