Speedy Ortiz

Speedy Ortiz is an American indie rock band formed in 2011 in Northampton, Massachusetts. The group was founded by the lead vocalist and guitarist Sadie Dupuis. Their name is taken from a character in the comic book series Love & Rockets. Their debut studio recording, Major Arcana (2013), received critical recognition. The band performed on tours with acts including The Breeders and Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks. Subsequent recordings include the albums Foil Deer (2015), Twerp Verse (2018), and Rabbit Rabbit (2023). Foil Deer received the award for album/EP of the year at the Boston Music Awards in 2015. Their singles include “Taylor Swift” (2012) and “Raising the Skate” (2015), the latter of which received the song of the year award at the Boston Music Awards.
