The American neo-metal bubble is one of the most populated in rock, and Soulfly, the band of Max Cavalera (ex-Sepultura), founded in 1997, is one of its spearheads. With its homonymous debut album in 1998, followed by Prophecy (2004) and Conquer (2008), Soulfly has far surpassed its status as the guitarist's "new project" to become a leading metal entity. In 2010, the album Omen offered the right balance between the thrash metal of Sepultura and the neo-metal of previous albums. In 2012, Enslaved marks the arrival of two new members to an ever-changing band. The following album Savages (2013) saw the induction of Max Cavalera's son Zyon Cavalera on drums, while on its successor and tenth album, Archangel (2015), son-in-law Igor Cavalera Jr. made a vocal appearance. Three years later, the eleventh album in twenty years, Ritual (2018), features contributions from Randy Blythe (Lamb of God) and Ross Dolan (Immolation).
