Born to a Danish mother and Malaysian father in Copenhagen, her family relocated to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia when she was young. Interested in music, she decided that she wanted to be a singer at the age of 10. While attending school, she entered talent contests, sang in choir, and performed in theater and musical productions. By the age of 13, she had already started writing songs and, when she graduated from high school in 2015, she pursued a career in music. Sophia Fredskild spent the first year performing at any musical function she could, focusing on performing cover versions and discovering her own voice. Towards the end of 2016, she met Malaysian DJ and producer Bo Amir Iqram (stage name: Cuurley), who she began to collaborate with. The duo took her music in an electronic direction and they released the English language single âGoâ(2017), which was followed by âMore Than You Seeâ (2018), a collaboration with Russian DJ/producer Alexy Dorokhov (a.k.a. Dorox). Influenced by her collaborators, Sophia Fredskildâs solo singles â including Malay-language tracks âMenanti Cintaâ (2018) and âCinta Selamanyaâ (2019) and their English-language counterparts âWaiting for Loveâ and âForever Mineâ â continued in an electronic direction. She posted videos of her singles on social media and garnered over one million views for each. She released a series of singles in 2021 â âShine a Light,â âHeartbreaks Not Gonna Break Me,â âBack to Paradise,â and âFuture So Brightâ â and continued to blend her own emotional songwriting with electronica and EDM (electronic dance music). In May 2022, she issued the single âIn Another Lifetime,â which earned over a million streams and views within the first month of release.
