Sobangcha is a pioneering Korean dance-pop trio that debuted in 1987 with the song "Tell Her This." The original members are Kim Tae-hyung, Lee Sang-won, and Jeong Won-kwan. Do Gun-woo was part of the group for two years (1989–1990) when Lee briefly left. The group disbanded in 1990 after releasing three full albums but reformed in 1994 with the original three members, remaining active until 1996. They made another comeback in 2005 with Kim and Lee, and Jeong rejoined in 2012, restoring the original trio. Sobangcha is often regarded as Korea’s first-generation idol and the country's first idol dance group. Although their style is quite different from today’s K-pop idols, they are considered true idols because of their dance performances, which focused on acrobatic moves like back tumbling—a signature element of their choreography. They received the Teen Singer Award from KBS in 1988 and from MBC in 1989.
