Slow Joy is the project of Mexican-American singer, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Esteban Flores. Hailing from New Mexico and based in Dallas, he grew up with the sound of '90s alternative rock, dominated by shoegaze, grunge and emo currents, which infuse much of his style. Four EPs followed, Raw Emotion (2022), Soft Slam (2022), Wildflower (2023) and Mi Amigo Slow Joy (2024), before the release of the album A Joy So Slow at Time I Don't Think It's Coming in 2025. One of the singles, "Gruesome", reaches No. 37 on the Top 40 Radio Alternative Songs chart.
