Silver Apples

Silver Apples, an electronic rock group from New York, was formed in 1967 by Simeon Oliver Coxe III and Danny Taylor. The duo began as a traditional rock band called The Overland Stage Electric Band before transitioning to electronic music techniques. They released their debut album Silver Apples in November 1968 on Kapp Records, featuring the song "Oscillations". Their second album, Contact, was released in 1969 and included a collaboration with Jimi Hendrix. However, a lawsuit by Pan Am over the use of their logo in the artwork led to the band's disbandment in 1970. In the mid-1990s, German bootleg recordings revived interest in Silver Apples, leading to a reunion and new releases, including Clinging to a Dream (2016). Simeon Oliver Coxe III passed away on September 8, 2020.
