Sen Dog

Senen Reyes, born on November 20, 1965, in Pinar del Río, Cuba, and better known as Sen Dog, first made his mark after relocating to South Gate, California, where he joined forces with his cousin B-Real and DJ Muggs to form the influential hip-hop trio Cypress Hill in 1988. Their self-titled debut album in 1991 introduced hard-edged West Coast hip-hop fused with bilingual lyrics, highlighted by songs like “How I Could Just Kill a Man” and “Pigs.” The group’s second album, Black Sunday (1993), debuted at Number 1 on the Billboard charts and featured iconic tracks such as “Insane in the Brain,” “Hits from the Bong,” and “I Wanna Get High.” As Cypress Hill’s sound evolved with darker tones on Temples of Boom (1995), they continued to innovate with albums like IV (1998) and Skull & Bones (2000), the latter incorporating rap-rock elements. During this period, Sen Dog founded SX-10 in 1996, a rap-rock group that released Mad Dog American in 2000. After returning with Cypress Hill for Stoned Raiders (2001) and Till Death Do Us Part (2004), he launched his solo career with Diary of a Mad Dog (2008), offering personal reflections through songs like "Juggernaut" with bandmate B-Real. In 2017, he co-founded Powerflo, blending Latin rap and heavy metal alongside members from Biohazard and Fear Factory, releasing their self-titled debut, followed by the EP Bring That Shit Back! (2018) and the full-length Gorilla Warfare in 2024. Sen Dog has continued recording and touring with Cypress Hill, contributing to the albums Elephants on Acid (2018) and Back in Black (2022), while maintaining a strong presence across hip-hop, rock, and metal scenes.
