Seiji Yokoyama (横山 èå , Yokoyama Seiji) is a Japanese composer, born on March 17, 1935, in Hiroshima, Japan. He graduated from the Kunitachi College of Music in 1957, alongside notable peers such as Joe Hisaishi, Michiru Åshima, and Masamichi Amano. With compositions that often feature symphonic elements, he made notable contributions to television films, historical re-enactment series, tokusatsu series and anime, notably Albator and Saint Seiya (The Knights of the Zodiac), for which he received the prestigious JASRAC and Nihon Anime Taishô awards for best music. Among his other notable works are The Adventures of Hutch the Honeybee (1974), Space Pirate Captain Harlock (1978), Megaloman (1979), Ikkiman (1986), Choujinki Metalder (1987), Chouriki Sentai Ohranger (1995), Armored Fleet Dairugger XV, Magical Magical Taluluto (1990), Winspector (1990), World Fairy Tale Series (1995), and GeGeGe no KitarÅ: Explosive Japan!! (2008). Yokoyama passed away from pneumonia on July 8, 2017, at the age of 82.
