SDEM

British composer, DJ, producer and musician from Leeds, Tom Knapp is better known under the pseudonym SDEM. His style blends experimental electro, abstract electronica, IDM, glitch and breakbeat, and is also influenced by the musique concrète movement. Active on the UK music scene since the 1990s as a DJ, producer and founder of labels such as ICASEA and .meds, Tom Knapp formed the duo Mortal & Chemist, who recorded for Skam Records. After the release of the vinyl EP Morphoc Rez under the name Tom Knapp in 2016, he took the pseudonym SDEM and released the albums IIRC (2019), ZNS (2020), RAG ORDER (2021), Worktapes (2022) and Vortices (2023) under various labels. In 2025, the studio album Infrastructure Space Tracks and the live recording At Quadrant Park are released.
