Scandal

Scandal was an American rock band formed in New York City in 1981 by guitarist Zack Smith, with Patty Smyth serving as the lead vocalist. The initial line-up included bassist Ivan Elias, guitarists Keith Mack and Zack Smith, keyboardist Benjy King, and drummer Frankie LaRocka. Scandal gained early success with their debut single "Goodbye to You" in 1982. Their first full-length album, Scandal, was released the same year. The band's breakthrough came with the release of "The Warrior" in 1984, which peaked at number seven on the Billboard charts and achieved RIAA-certified platinum status in both the United States and Canada. Jon Bon Jovi briefly joined the band as a guitarist in 1983. Despite their success, internal struggles and issues with their record company led to the band's dissolution by 1985. Following the band’s breakup, several reunions occurred, including a performance on VH1's Bands Reunited in 2004 and subsequent tours. The post-split compilation We Are the '80s arrived in 2006. Original members Ivan Elias, Frankie LaRocka, and Benjy King passed away in 1995, 2005, and 2012, respectively.
