Sasha

Sasha (born Alexander Paul Coe on 4 September 1969 in Bangor, Wales) is a legendary British DJ, producer, and electronic music innovator whose work has shaped the landscape of progressive house and dance music for over three decades. Widely regarded as one of the pioneers of the progressive house genre, Sasha's career spans a diverse range of electronic music styles, blending atmospheric melodies, intricate production, and cutting-edge sound design. After immersing himself in the acid house scene of the late 1980s, he emerged in the early 1990s and gained prominence alongside fellow UK DJs such as John Digweed, with whom he formed a formidable partnership that helped redefine the global club scene. Known for his seamless mixing, technical prowess, and emotive track selection, Sasha became synonymous with the evolution of progressive house—a genre marked by deep, layered sounds and dynamic, evolving buildups. His early releases, such as Xpander (1999) and Involver (2004), earned him critical acclaim and a dedicated following, with Xpander—which cracked the UK charts at number 18—in particular becoming an iconic anthem of the genre. His Involver series of mix albums, particularly Involver 1 & 2, are considered benchmark releases in the world of progressive house, blending his ability to mix existing tracks with his own production to create intricate, immersive listening experiences. He has notched up four studio albums, including Scene Delete in 2016 and Da Vinci Genius in 2024, mapping out a lush world of cinematic electronica as part of an imagined soundtrack for the titular icon.
