Samy Deluxe

The German rapper and music producer Samy Deluxe (other pseudonyms: Wickeda MC and Sam Semilia) was born Samy Sorge in Hamburg on December 19, 1977. Inspired by American rap, Sorge began rapping in English himself. He initially formed the duo No Nonsens with producer DJ Dynamite before the two musicians formed the band Dynamite Deluxe in 1997. With the German single "Füchse" from the Absoluten Beginner album Bambule, Samy Deluxe generated major attention for the first time in 1999. One year later, the single "Grüne Brille" by Dynamite Deluxe and Jan Delay followed, as well as the accompanying debut Deluxe Soundsystem, which entered the German charts at number 4. After the release, Dynamite Deluxe disbands. In April 2001, the rapper releases his solo debut Samy Deluxe, on which rappers Afrob, Dendemann, Illo and Nico Suave make guest appearances. The single "Weck mich auf" reaches number 4 in the charts. With Verdammtnochma! he released his second solo album in 2004, followed in the fall of 2005 by the mixtape So Deluxe, So Glorious, which included a song with US rapper DMX. After Dynamite Deluxe released the comeback album TNT in 2008, Samy Deluxe's third solo album Dis wo ich herkomm followed in 2009. In 2011, the rapper released his first number one album SchwarzWeiss. The albums Männlich (2014), Blockbasta (2015, with Afrob) and Berühmte letzte Worte (2016) all reached the top 4 of the German album charts. As part of the MTV Unplugged series, a live album is also released in 2018, featuring the Stieber Twins, Kool Savas, Curse, Eko Fresh and Nena, among others. Samy Deluxe's next studio album, Hochkultur, followed a year later. In 2021, the rapper released his Liarkasten EP. Hochkultur 2, the ninth studio album, is released in 2023. This marks Samy Deluxe's return to the top of the German album charts after twelve years. In September 2025, the album Samy x Conductor, produced together with Conductor Williams, is released. The album climbs to number 13 in the German charts.
