Samuli Tapani Putro was born on August 21, 1970 in Helsinki, Finland. He co-founded Zen Café in Turku in 1992, serving as lead singer and primary songwriter. After the band went on hiatus following their album Stop (released in 2006), Putro began releasing solo material. His first studio album was Elämä on juhla, released February 11th, 2009. Two of his albums reached Number 1 on the Finnish chart and he has been nominated for a Jussi Award and three Emma-gaala awards.
