Samantha Barks

Samantha Jane Barks was born on 2 October 1990 in Laxey on the Isle of Man; she is a British singer and actress. After moving to London to study at the Arts Educational School, Samantha Jane Barks entered the public eye as a finalist on the BBC talent show I’d Do Anything in 2008, where she finished third. Her first studio effort, Looking in Your Eyes, was released in 2007, followed by the self‑titled album Samantha Barks on 10 June 2016, which she promoted with a UK tour of thirteen venues. In 2021 she released Into the Unknown, continuing her presence in the pop and musical theatre markets. Samantha Jane Barks’ career highlights include her acclaimed portrayal of Éponine in the 2012 film Les Misérables, which earned her the Empire Award for Best Female Newcomer and a National Board of Review Award shared with the cast; her single "On My Own" reached number 43 on the UK Singles Chart and number 97 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2013. She has also appeared on Broadway in Pretty Woman: The Musical (2018) and starred as Elsa in the West End production of Frozen from 2021 to 2024, returning to the stage after maternity leave.
