Sakiko Ito

Sakiko Ito, born Sakiko Chiba on April 2, 1958 in Japan, is a singer known for her contributions to J-pop and Kayōkyoku. At the age of 15, Ito gained national attention as a contestant on the Japanese television show Star Tanjō! (A Star Is Born), securing a recording contract following her victory. Ito's debut single "Himawari Musume" (The Sunflower Girl) was released in 1974 and peaked at number 20 on the Oricon chart. Her breakthrough came with the song "Kogarashi No Futari" (Two In The Cold Wintry Wind), which reached number 5 on the same chart later that year. Subsequent hits include "Otome no Waltz" (Waltz For The Girls) from 1975 and "Kimi Kawai Ne" (You Are Cute) from 1976, the latter of which peaked at number 9 on the Oricon chart and earned her an appearance on Kohaku Uta Gassen in 1976.
