Ryo the Skywalker

Ryo Yamaguchi, known professionally as RYO the SKYWALKER, was born on 2 January 1974 in Osaka Prefecture, Japan, and is a singer specializing in world music. He began his musical journey after visiting Jamaica in 1994, returning to Japan to work as a DJ and releasing his debut 7‑inch single "Genba Shijyo Syugi" that same year. His early collaborations included forming Tokiwa Dem Crew, which disbanded in 1999, after which he gained attention through guest appearances with Sugar Soul and Ram Jam World. In 2000, he released "SUNNY DAY WALK" on Warner Music Japan, marking his major‑label debut and establishing his presence in the Japanese reggae scene.Subsequent releases followed a steady chronology:, RYO the SKYWALKER (2001), HOW TO HUNT IN THE BUSH (2003), "Harewataru Oka"(2006), ONE‑DER LAND (2007), UNITED FRONT ~works best~ (2008), LIFE DRAWING (2014), and COME HOME (2013). He founded his own label, BUSH HUNTER MUSIC, in 2004, and later joined RIDDIM ZONE in 2006. Throughout his career, he released numerous EPs and singles such as "Kidoairaku MEDLEY" (2015) and "Natsu Dorobo" (2014), and collaborated with artists including Pushim, Moomin, and NG HEAD. RYO the SKYWALKER has hosted monthly events like Rockers Paradise and performed at major festivals such as Fuji Reggae Festival and Osaka Reggae Music Festival.
