Ruth Etting, born on November 23, 1896, in David City, Nebraska, was an American singer and actress. She initially pursued art but transitioned to show business after performing at the Marigold Gardens nightclub. Etting gained national recognition through her appearance in Flo Ziegfeld's Follies of 1927 and released over 60 hit recordings, including "Shine On, Harvest Moon", "Ten Cents a Dance", and "Love Me or Leave Me". Her career spanned stage, radio, and film. Etting retired from performing in 1935 but appeared occasionally in public appearances. She passed away on September 24, 1978.
