Rondò Veneziano

Rondò Veneziano is an Italian chamber orchestra founded in 1979 in Rome by composer, conductor and arranger Gian Piero Reverberi. The project features a unique fusion of Baroque music and modern instrumentation, combining elements inspired by composers such as Vivaldi, Corelli and Albinoni with contemporary rhythms, electric bass, synthesizers and drums. The band features classical musicians dressed in period costumes, while the modern parts are provided by a rhythm and electronics section added in the studio. In its early days, the management team signed an introductory partnership with Baby Records (1980-1992), before collaborating with DDD (La Drogueria de Drugulo, 1992-1995), Koch (1997-2000), and Cleo Music AG for the latter period (2005-2009). The eponymous debut album, Rondò Veneziano, was released in 1980 to immediate success in Italy and Germany, and was followed by numerous albums over the years, including La Serenissima (1981), Scaramucce (1982), Odissea Veneziana (1984), Casanova (1985), Masquerade (1989) and Barocco (1990). Rondò Veneziano's music is largely instrumental, focusing on elegant melodies and a cinematic mood, sometimes used in film soundtracks and TV credits. Gian Piero Reverberi composes almost the entire repertoire, often with collaborators such as Laura Giordano. The group gained international recognition in the 1980s and 1990s, particularly in Europe, Japan and Latin America. Rondò Veneziano also gave concerts all over the world, with visually stunning staging. The group's style remains unclassifiable, halfway between accessible classical music, instrumental pop and easy listening with a baroque character. Over the decades, the project has released over 30 original albums and numerous compilations on the BMG Ariola, BMG Ricordi and Sony Music labels. After signing with Cleo Music AG, the group recorded the albums Papagena (2001) and La Piazza (2002), 25 - Live in Concert (2005) and Rondo Veneziano Chamber Orchestra (2009). A Greatest Hits was released in 2022. By 2017, the band had received 27 gold records, 14 platinum records and 7 double-platinum records.
