Romeo Void is an American new wave and post-punk band formed in San Francisco, California, in February 1979. The group consisted of vocalist Debora Iyall, guitarist Peter Woods, bassist Frank Zincavage, saxophonist Benjamin Bossi, and several drummers including Jay Derrah and Aaron Smith. The band was founded at the San Francisco Art Institute by Iyall and Zincavage, who were inspired by the local punk and post-punk scenes. Romeo Void released their first single "White Sweater" in February 1981 on 415 Records, followed by their debut album It's a Condition in July of the same year. The album was critically acclaimed. Their second release, a four-song EP titled Never Say Never, resulted in a distribution deal with Columbia Records. The band continued to release music, including the albums Benefactor (1982) and Instincts (1984), and toured extensively until their disbandment in 1985. Notable songs include "A Girl in Trouble (Is a Temporary Thing)", which became a top 40 pop single, and "Never Say Never". The band reunited briefly over the years, with Iyall continuing her musical pursuits as a side project.
