Born in Fremont, California, on June 11, 1988, singer, guitarist and songwriter Rome Rene Ramirez is best known as Rome and for his participation in the reggae rock and ska-punk trio Sublime with Rome. Born to Mexican parents who emigrated to California, Rome Ramirez moved to Los Angeles at the age of eighteen and concentrated on his musical career. In 2008, he met Eric Wilson, formerly of ska-punk band Sublime, and formed a trio with Bud Gaugh. Named Sublime with Rome, the band made a name for themselves with their debut album Yours Truly (2011), buoyed by the Alternative Airplay No. 4 hit "Panic". After three more studio albums, the band broke up in 2024. In the meantime, Rome had already launched his own career with a regular collaboration with The Dirty Heads on the track "Lay Me Down" (2010), #1 on the alternative charts, and in 2012 released the four-track solo EP Dedication (2012). He collaborated with Enrique Iglesias, Selena Gomez and Blues Traveler, then recorded the singles "Forever" (2024) and "Why Me?" (2025). In 2025, he reunited with The Dirty Heads for the song "Slow & Easy" (#39 in the alternative charts).
