Rina Chinen

Rina Chinen, born 知念里奈 on February 9, 1981, in Okinawa, Japan, is a singer and voice actress. She began her career as a J-pop idol after attending the Okinawa Actors School. Her debut single "DO‐DO FOR ME" was released in October 1996, marking the start of her musical journey. Rina Chinen's first album, Growing, followed in June 1998, featuring notable tracks such as "Break out Emotion", "Wing", and "Be yourself". She continued to release successful singles including "YES" (1999), "GOD BLESS THE WORLD" (1999), and "Baby Love" (2000) before releasing her second studio album, breath, in July 2001. Rina Chinen's career transitioned to acting in 2001, where she appeared in various dramas and musicals. Her notable roles include Emma Carew in Jekyll & Hyde (2003), Kim in Miss Saigon (2004-2009), and Fantine in Les Misérables (2011-2019). Additionally, she portrayed the Princess Stéphanie in Rudolf (2008) and Ellen in Miss Saigon (2016). In 2017, she released a 20th-anniversary compilation album titled 20th Anniversary 〜Singles & My Favorites〜. Rina Chinen's acting career also includes appearances in television dramas such as Kochira Hon Ikegami Sho (2002-2005) and Kamen Rider Saber (2020-2021).
