Rico Nasty, born Maria-Cecilia Simone Kelly on May 7, 1997, in Largo, Maryland, is a genre-defying rapper, singer, and songwriter known for her explosive energy and boundary-pushing sound. She began her music career in high school, self-releasing mixtapes like Summer's Eve (2014), The Rico Story (2016), and Sugar Trap (2016), gaining early attention with viral singles "iCarly" and "Hey Arnold," the latter of which was remixed by Lil Yachty. Her 2017 mixtape Sugar Trap 2 featured the breakout hit "Poppin," which was included in HBO’s Insecure, further elevating her profile. In 2018, she signed with Atlantic Records and released Nasty, a critically acclaimed mixtape that included tracks like "Smack a Bitch" and "Rage." The following year, she collaborated with producer Kenny Beats on Anger Management (2019), a surprise release that showcased her versatility and received widespread praise. Her debut studio album, Nightmare Vacation (2020), featured singles such as "iPhone" and "OHFR?" and included guest appearances from artists like Trippie Redd and Don Toliver. In 2022, she released the mixtape Las Ruinas, blending rap, nu-metal, and hyperpop influences. In 2024, she collaborated with Boys Noize on the EP Hardc0re Dr3amz, featuring the single "Arintintin." Her third studio album, Lethal, was released on May 16, 2025, under Fueled by Ramen, and included tracks like "Teethsucker (Yea3x)," "Butterfly Kisses," and "Soul Snatcher," marking a new chapter in her ever-evolving career.
